This no-mess blend is hard to beat if you want something with universal appeal that doesn't require you to follow behind with a broom and dustpan.
Featuring sunflower, peanut pieces, and hulled millet, there is something in this mix that is sure to please every visitor to your feeders at least once. Most birds that visit feeders will eat sunflower without reservation, while those that also pursue insects in their diet will enjoy the peanut pieces--bushtits, chickadees, and woodpeckers come to mind, as do many others. And a long list of ground feeders including Juncos and doves will love the millet.
Serve it in a tube or hopper feeder, sprinkle it on a platform, or scatter it on the ground-- no matter how you serve this, it will be well received by everyone and everything. The larger the feeding surface, the more variety of birds you will attract with this blend, ground scatter will service (nearly) everyone, while at the other end of the spectrum you can serve this in a tube feeder with small perches (or no perches!) if you want to offer smaller birds their own space separate from everyone else.
